LivingLab Schwechat: The Town as Microcosm.

Living lab means the whole town of Schwechat as a "living laboratory", where technical developments can be tried out under real conditions ("testbed") – naturally within the bounds of what is ethical!

The LivingLab project forms an important focus point for Schwechat for its path to becoming an internationally recognised ICT location. The communal society, in particular municipal facilities (such as the town administration, the home for the elderly or the builder’s yard), represent a perfect context, close to life, for trying out ICT developments for businesses based in Schwechat. This not least because of the small town structure, the manageable population numbers and the resultant short distance to the centre of the administration.

If the test runs are successful, the next step will be the commercialisation of new ideas, and with the building up and expansion of businesses as well hiring new people to work in Schwechat.
